Production News
Production is now underway on The Second Coming 重生, which marks Hong Kong director Herman YAU 邱禮濤's stereoscopic 3-D film debut.
The suspense-horror picture is a story of a teenage girl who starts to experience hauntings on the cusp of her 14th birthday. That forces her family to confront their past and eventually leads to the unveiling of strange truths.
It features up-and-coming Malaysian actress Joey LEONG 梁祖儀 (Blood Ties 還魂 (2009), Twisted 撞鬼) in the lead role. She is surrounded by Hong Kong actors Maggie SIU 邵美琪, Kenny WONG 黃德斌 and Don LEE 李逸朗.
The film is co-directed by Australian writer Raymond NG 吳天賜, who also wrote the screenplay.
The Second Coming is structured as a Hong Kong-Taiwan-Singapore co-venture. It is presented by Imagine Nation Films, Scout Pictures and the Film Development Fund of Hong Kong 香港電影發展基金, with the participation of the Media Development Authority (MDA) of Singapore.
The producers are Ng Tin Chi and Flora GOH 吳慧芬. Executive producers are Ng, Anita Hatta, Leow Siak Fah, George Andrew Philips, Kevin Lau and Taiwan's LEE Lieh 李烈. Lee produced Orz Boys 囧rz男孩 (2008) and Monga 艋舺 (2010).
At project stage Second Coming was presented at the 2011 edition of the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival 台北金馬影展's Film & TV Film Project Promotion (FTPP) 金馬創投會議.
The crew includes several Yau regulars, notably music composer Brother Hung 麥振鴻, cinematographer Joe CHAN 陳廣鴻 and visual effects supervisor Enoch Chan of effects house Herbgarden. The stereo 3-D is handled by Singapore's Widescreen Media Pte Ltd.

Yau starts shooting 3D horror as pan-Asian co-production
Hong Kong director Herman Yau has started shooting his first 3D production, suspense horror The Second Coming, as a Hong Kong-Singapore-Taiwan co-production.
Australian writer Ng Tin Chi, who also wrote the screenplay, is co-directing the film. The cast is headed by Hong Kong actors Maggie Siu, Kenny Wong and Don Li with up-and-coming Malaysian actress Joey Leong (Blood Ties).
Leong plays a teenage daughter who starts to experience hauntings, forcing her family to confront their past and the unveiling of some uncomfortable truths.
Yau and Ng are working with Singapore’s Widescreen Media for the stereoscopic 3D on the film. Widescreen previously worked on successful 3D films such as Bait 3D, Flying Swords Of Dragon Gate and upcoming Korea-China co-production Mr Go 3D.
The film is produced by Hong Kong’s Imagine Nation Films and Singapore’s Scout Pictures, with support from the Hong Kong Film Development Fund (HKFDC) and Singapore’s Media Development Authority (MDA).
Ng and Flora Goh are producing. Executive producers are Anita Hatta, Leow Siak Fah, Raymond Ng, George Andrew Philips, Kevin Lau and Lee Lieh, producer of hit Taiwanese films Orz Boyz and Monga.
Scheduled for release from mid-2013, the film will be distributed in Singapore and Malaysia by V Media Enterprises. Other distribution partners will be announced soon. The project was selected for the Taipei Golden Horse Film Project Promotion event in November last year.
