No slowing down for Shiu
Shiu’s all that: Shiu sharing her experience with her fans during the launch of a beauty centre in Ipoh
IPOH: Despite clocking 25 years in the business, TVB artiste Maggie Shiu Mei Kei shows no signs of slowing down as she travels frequently to promote her range of beauty products.
Shiu celebrated her 46th birthday in Malaysia on Feb 27 when her close friends and business partners surprised her with a birthday cake when she touched down at KL International Airport.
The next day, she made her way to Ipoh with two fellow artistes – Kenny Wong and Auguste Kwan – and headed straight to the famous Ipoh Yim Kok Kai (salted chicken) outlet.
When met after opening a beauty salon in Gunung Rapat here yesterday, Shiu said she loved Ipoh food and could finish a whole chicken by herself.
“Wong and Kwan also can’t resist the dish. It’s just too tasty. We will definitely return here often to savour the food.
“Besides, Ipoh folk and Malaysians generally are very gentle, real and affectionate,” she said.
Shiu, who started her career in 1985, said she had no plans to retire from showbusiness and would continue acting for as long as she could.
Asked about her birthday wish, she said it was a secret. However, she pointed out that good health was important as one grows older.
“Getting sick is so painful and I cannot bear it. Therefore, I hope all would be blessed with good health.
“I enjoy my work as an actress and learnt a lot from my fellow artistes including my fans,” Shiu said, adding that she had no problems juggling her time between acting and promoting the beauty products in which she had invested in.
The three celebrities will remain in Malaysia for a week to open two other outlets in Penang and Sarawak before flying back to Hong Kong.
