My Auntie, who studied in England many years ago, was just commenting the other day about how a ridiculous amount of places in Australia have just used names from England! Your trip sounds beautiful, and what amazes me is actually how much better quality cameras have gotten since 1991! But seriously, what a lovely and meaningful trip Hi, Charmed! Glad to see you again. It's been a long time not "seeing" you around here. I did have a great time in London. Though it was not my first visit to London, it had a "plus", thanks to BOGAE. Absolutely agree w/ u on the improvement of camera technology, although it is not quite fair to compare the 1989 sets pics w/ my 2008 pics coz the 1989 BOGAE pics are caps from utube videos. FYI, the 2008 pics were downsizing version. The originals are too big to post in this forum. And about the "copy-cat" cities, it is not unique to Sydney. You will wind lots of "Richmond" in North America too. Apparently, it shows to things: 1. How big the Brits is in the 19th century. There was a saying: "The sun never sets on British empire". 2. How imigrans, not only from the Brits, always have deep connections to their roots. You will be surprised to find many "Odessa"s built by Russian immigrants around the world. Of course, I won't be surprised to find "Mong Kok" in Sydney (blink-blink). Ha...ha..., can u imagine how big my grin is when I found an "After Five" cafe in Houston's (TX) chinatown?
